Compass on glase

Compass on glareshield - tip up

Have anyone ever installed a whiskey or vertical card compass on the glareshield in a tip up canopy ? I have been looking around on various sites and photos but never seen anyone doing it. I think I can do a fair job at making a sturdy installation but not sure about tipping the compass all the time ...

Any thoughts on this ??

Jan,

It won't be a problem - many gliders having tipping panels with a compass in them. Try this kind of mount.

I had one Velcroed up there and removed it after the inspection because I have a compass on the EFIS.

BTW, you can correct the title by clicking on EDIT and then ADVANCED EDIT.

My vertical card compass

is on the glareshield on my tipup with no issues --- I like the VC compass because I don't have to think in reverse on my turns.

Mine also...

Mine is up there in a tip-up -4 as well. Works as well as any whiskey compass, I guess... Only blocks view of cowling, so no adverse viz effects in my case.
