Exit Ramp Crack

I was just wrapping up the condition inspection on my RV8-A which has flown a total of 50 hours since new.
I discovered a two inch crack on the cooling exit ramp (exhaust ramp).
This has been mentioned in many post as being a common problem on the 8 and 8A.
Does anyone have a final fix for this problem? I have read the other posts and I am aware that there are many opinions as to what causes this area to crack.

I would love to hear from anyone that has a nice clean fix for the problem.
This was a quick build kit, so I did not construct the ramp.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciate.

I had a couple of such cracks. I stop-drilled them and they have not progressed in the 200-300 hours since.

Here is what I did:

It appears that you laid a sheet over top of the existing ramp. Is that correct?
What thickness? Is it aluminum or stainless steel?
