Overhaul - Lycoming Oil Filter Adapter - 77852

Does anyone know where I can get replacement parts for the Donaldson (204418-156) oil filter adapter. The Lycoming part number is 77852. The one I took off my engine needs the guts replaced but don't know where to get these. Otherwise the unit is still pretty good. Or do I need to send it in to get "overhauled"?

Thanks

Lycoming does have a kit with the screw, spring, washer and steel tab but its right at 100.00 and a complete new housing is 155.00 with all the guts.

I didn't realize that. Might as well buy a new one I am guessing. Would you know what the part number is for the kit?

Thanks for the response.

05k21307 on the kit. I believe I have a new adapter and a kit available.

Any reason not to use a trans dap or other brand oil filter relocation kit from summit or jegs ? Seems like that would be the way to go on an experimental.

Something like this :

I will sue you for personal emotional distress! You haven't mentioned that on your disclaimer! HA! :)
Man you made me crack with your "While I'm not a builder if I happen to give advice , I will not be responsible for damage to equipment, your ego, parts, world wide power outages, spontaneously generated black holes, planetary disruptions, or personal injury that may result from the use of this advice." LOL.

The lyc adapter has a high pressure bypass that will let oil still flow if the filter becomes clogged or otherwise restricted enough to raise the PSI above the designed level. In the auto world, this bypass function is built into the filter. Therefore, if you use one of these setups in place of the Lyc adapter or it's guts, it is critical that you only use filters with a bypass built in, assuming the unit does not have one (it likely doesn't). I suspect some aviation filters may not have this bypass function, as it is built into the Lyc adapter.
