Strange Lights

Hello Gents

Last Sunday on our way to KLAX from Toronto at FL380 just south west of Las Vegas where they have all the Sun Panels, we saw 3 very bright lights on the ground and were wondering what they were exactly...We could see them from 50 NM out...

Anybody knows what they are??? It will be nice to know.

I have pictures but I can't post them..

They are solar power generators, using a large field of mirrors to focus the sun's energy on a central tower. You are most likely seeing the central tower, which is extremely bright. I think there are three of them.

We spot those about 200 miles out of LAS on a good day.

I say to the FO - OK, visual, ask for right base 26L please.

Always raises a - Huh

Also, the wildlife lovers complained bitterly after their inception because of the smokers...

That thing is a multi billion dollar white elephant! They need to run natural gas boilers to keep the water hot during night time and on cloudy days. So much for NO "carbon footprint".
