RV-12is floor carpet

Does anyone else have interference between the floor carpet/foam padding (under the rudder pedals) and the heat vents?

How did you solve it? Just trip the foam padding and/or carpet in that area ?

Yes, mine had the same issue. Mine were shipped June of 2019. I had to send them back to Abby to be modified. I assume she incorporated that change in all subsequent iS interiors. When was yours shipped?

ahh OK. mine was one of the first shipped.

if you're around the airport, do you mind taking a photo of that area of your floor?

Your post was about 1/2 hour too late. Just got back from the hangar. Not sure if these will help you, but these were what I had sent to Abby to get them modified.

You could cut them out yourself, except you won’t have the nice edging she applies to keep them from fraying.

And not sure if you’re installing LEMOs or not, but the opening around the audio jacks on the carpet on the seat ramp will need enlarged too. See this one for that.

Not sure when I’ll be back out to the airport if you still want a photo of the finished product.

Yes, I noticed the LEMO plug issue as well.

I put my LEMO plug 1" forward of the two jacks though, not where the electrical diagram had recommended. Not sure I would have been 'saved' by future changes Abby made for that..

I'm less concerned about the LEMO plug .. carpet doesn't interfere with the functionality.. But the floorboard carpet's foam actually prevented the vent from being opened..

I'm tempted to just fix it myself and be done with it.

It’s your call, but as you know, you can fly it without the carpet. I’d think about the long term vs. immediate.

And full disclosure, I too mounted my LEMO 1” in front of the GA jacks. Fortunately for me, Abby enlarged the opening in both directions. Never would have been able to have mounted it per Van’s instructions due to the stiffening rib under the seat ramp. The LEMO body is too long and would have interfered with the rib.
