Retrofit crotch strap mounting - RV-6A

My RV-6A was built with a four point harness system. I upgraded the belts to a five-point system (needed longer belts than Van's standard), but I don't know how to retrofit the mounting bracket for the crotch strap. Where can I find some information on what's involved in this and how to do it?

well, there’s a fantastic web function, either directly here or thru your usual browser, called “search”.
Using this might lead you, amongst others, to this thread: https://vansairforce.net/community/showthread.php?t=105412

Just finished the crotch lap install myself, the -7 kit from Vans needs to be adapted by cutting and riveting new flanges, relatively easy to do.

RE: Crotch Strap - RV6

I tried using the RV7 seat belt attach hardware kit for the crotch strap but it didn't fit the RV6. So....

I used this method for my RV6. If you look closely you can see that it is two bracket pieces that overlap in the center where the seat belt crotch strap attach point in the center is. The benefit of this method is it doesn't require precise dimensional spacing of a bracket between the floor ribs. You will still need to cut a slot in your seat pan for the belt to exit from underneath. Take into account you seat cushion for where to cut the slot.
