I was thinking oil but fuel is more likely, to your point.

After having my carb heat door assy wear badly I replaced my carb heat cable with a button-lock cable, an Aircraft Spruce A-700. When the carb heat is off, the door is now tight against the housing and doesn't vibrate. That has really helped.
The button-lock cable will also hold a partial heat setting for carbureted lean-of -peak operation.

My non-RV has an ARB Carb Ice Detector from Spruce. It reliably tells me when ice is beginning to form. Small amounts of carb heat can clear it at that point, so your locking cable is a good idea.
Thanks!

I ended all the issues with the wire Push Pull cable by going to a cable with a threaded end. I use a rod end fitting. No Mickey Mouse issues. This is an important control and this isn't a place compramise.

What did you use to replace the push pull cable? I have had problems with my carb heat cable (wore out the hole in the door lever and now the cable broke).
Thanks,
Dan
