I have noticed some people have the battery mounted straight up and others have mounted it sideways. Could you explain the reason for your choice? Mounting ease, accessibility,etc.

Some have clearance issues above their batteries. So they mount the battery box on its side
so the battery is removed laterally instead of out the top.

do you mean upside or sideup? 
...and to answer the question nobody asked, I found you can mount a PC925 ON IT'S SIDE, perfectly fine in the box, with about an inch space on the short side. I wanted the extra crank in the winter, as I have no preheat, or hangar, or cover.....etc.
note; it did pop off the plastic top cover on the first flight, so a good tight bracket is essential.
