Garmin 530 repair options

Are there any indy shops out there repairing Garmin 530w's? The com died on mine. Garmin's flat rate is something like $2300 right now. Fair enough I guess, but just looking to see if there are other options.

I think I heard that Garmin doesn't sell parts to shops. Which pretty much makes independent repair impossible. Bendix King followed suit for most of their equipment (found out when I was trying to get a King Com repaired last year).

My 530 lost com, had it repaired and had it up graded to a W, $3500. The shop had to send it to Garmin for the repair.
