Gasket sealant question

I’m adding the inverted oil pickup to my vacuum pad and have a thick paper style gasket. Everything I’ve read seems to indicate a dry mating surface. One AP on the field said he smears a very light coat of silicone on. I can’t find anything in the Lycoming service manual. Any advice?
Thanks

Release agent

Lycoming often recommends a release agent but they never give a product name.
Builders I asked say dry or a light coat of oil either side just to keep the gasket from sticking.

I was lucky to be taught from a local legend engine builder. Have also seen it done, but not mentioned, in a Lycoming engine building video.

Use tite-seal or fuel lube. Put a little on and rub it into both sides of the gasket between you’re thumb and index finger. There should be little excess during assembly.
