Brakes

Does anyone know whether the brake disks can be turned? If so what are the disk limits? If not where’s a good place to purchase new disks and at about what price?

Check with the manufacturer. I have seen specifications for Matco brakes for a minimum thickness. You can buy new discs from the manufacturer or Aircraft Spruce.

Both Spruce and Chief carry disks, OEM and RAPCO. I think they start around $100 each.

Consider the APS "Black Steel" Nitrided discs. They should last several times longer than the originals. Aircraft Spruce sells them. You might need to contact APS via their web site to find the match for the make and model you have on your RV.

I am trying a pair and will compare them to some HD Clevelands shortly. I will use the Cleveland organic pads, so pad life will not change, but the discs should not scratch or rust even on an amphibian.

Consider thicker rotors

I think a 2008 -7A is likely to have Parker brakes. Consider replacing the rotors with new thicker rotors. See https://vansairforce.net/community/showthread.php?t=144513
