Really tight fit of the control stick to stick base

This seems too tight to me, anyone else experience this? I had to bend the Clevis out slightly to get the stick base in and it just doesn’t look good.

If you zoom in on this pic you can see how the flange of the Clovis is bent out to fit the control stick base.

My -7 instructions say to grind ends of stick and bushing for slip fit. See detail B, section A-10 (lower left), Note 2 on sheet dwg 38 (again for this is for a 7) but should be the same for the 9 since they share the fuse.

From your picture you still have to much bushing. There shouldn't be any bending of the clevis.

Grind it, baby!

You may find you'll need to grind/trim BOTH the bushing and the tube at the bottom of the stick. My -8 instructions, IIRC, talks about the "Clovis", as you call it, being angled, just like yours is, in your picture, but this was on purpose. The bushing was to be ground (grinded?) at a matching angle at the ends so that it would help prevent it from rotating when the bolt is tightened.

Actually it is to prevent the bushing from getting bowed when the bolt is torqued which will cause binding in the pivot joint. For this reason, it is a good idea to adjust the ends of the bushing for a good fit, regardless of what model you are building.
