Nose Wheel Maintenance

Hi Guys,

I am in the middle of my annual and I am wondering what is required on the nose wheel. I have checked the breakout force and added grease to the zirc. The wheel bearings look like a sealed unit. Does it need any maintenance?

I also lifted up on the strut with the nose wheel off the ground and it seems firm except for a small amount of play in the linkage.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

After doing some more research, I found out I have the Matco front axle system. The specific question is "does the wheel bearing need to be cleaned and repacked during the annual inspection?"

Thanks

Aside from inspection and cleaning, I just grease the zerk fitting, check the breakout force (I err on the side of higher force), and re-pack the bearings. For me, the nosewheel bearing grease is always more dirty than the main wheels. I figure it probably doesn't seal as well.
