I have an IO-540-C4B5 and I'm looking to install the BandC 8amp alternator on the vacuum pump pad. I bought the vacuum pump adapter from my engine builder years ago, but now that I'm working on installing it, it doesn't seem to work.
The face of the gear seems to be around 1.5" deep from the mounting flange, but the gear sticking out the adapter is a solid 1/4 shy of that which means the gear doesn't engage.
The part number of the adapter I have is 61098, but my C4B5 parts manual calls for a 67536.
Can anyone confirm that the the right part numbers or comment on what I need to do to fix this? I see that the 61098 part I have was used on lycoming 540 engines, and the 67536 parts I see online don't seem any longer, so I'd like some feedback before I start ordering different parts.
