Installing Andair OS850

I need information on how and where to mount this separator.
If mounted on the firewall, would the firewall need to be reinforced?
Photos from other builders' installations would help me very much.

Thanks.

Oil separator.

I found I needed a bit of reinforcement on my can, as some vibration is transmitted via the connection hose. I used an .032" plate, and secured it through the firewall with 08 nutplates. As far as location, anywhere on the firewall that is higher than the engines vent outlet. Mine is almost dead center, and as high as I could get it. Use silicone hose here, as well as on the return. Really works well, and I can use all 8 quarts with no oil on the belly, although I typically run just seven unless I go on a long XC. My can is plumbed to drain the captured oil back into the engine. Andair has a secondary can you can install on the drain to catch any goo ejected from the separator. Sorry, no pictures of the doubler, but I did drill lightening holes in the doubler to save a speck of weight.

Regards,
Chris
