Question (simple?) about rib hole EDs

niteav8r

I'm New Here
Hi all-
Just a simple build question, I hope- working on an F1 Rocket rudder...

I've got a bottom rib with holes that seem to be pretty close to the edge. I drilled through the pre-drilled holes in the bottom rudder spar reinforcement plate into the rudder spar, rudder horn and bottom rib.

Looks like the bottom rib flange has 6/32"ED - 5/32"ED, when it should be more like 8/32" minimum.

Can I just put two more holes inboard, through the rib, spar, horn and doubler plate? How far inboard should I put them if so?

Hope that (newbie) question made sense...
Thanks.

If I recall correctly, that rib flange is sandwiched between the spar and the control horn angle. If that's the case and the edge distance is Ok on the spar, then I would not worry about re-drilling.

edge distance

I looked at your pic and agree with the other post.you could add another set of rivets but not needed, but when in doubt build it stout our keep light and leave it out.Jim W A&P
