first engine start issues

Hi All,

in the midst of these strange times i decided to do something cool... let the motor (aerosport IO-375/Hartzell CS) of the 7 run for the first time.

she was alive after pushing the starter for 2 seconds and runs smooth as an electric car!!!

i followed mahlon russels procedure for a first start and all systems worked.

I just had two problems:

1. at full power (starting at 2500 rpm) there was some kind of strange noise (like a metallic rattle) that i heard on the headsets. my buddy guarding the fire extinguisher said that he heard nothing strange at all from the outside. the noise i heard was repeatable.

2. my dynon skyview (also starting at 2500 rpm) showed some red crosses over the entire screen ("EMS sensor fail") and the shutted down completely. later the evening the dynon was working again.

any hints from you guys...?

btw... this event was so cool! after that i was jumping around like crazy. Keep pounding those rivets and pulling those damned wires… it's realy worth it!!!

Check and make sure you are using all the ground leads on the EMS.
Likewise check the shields on your audio cables.
