Plasma III Timing Readout on G3X

Just checking to see if anyone has connected the Lightspeed Plasma III timing output to the G3X through the GEA 24 successfully. The output is in .01 volts per degree of timing and I'm wondering if the G3X can calibrate that low a voltage. I know there is a module out there for converting to the 0-5 volt range, but before I go that route I'm interested in knowing other's experiences with a direct connection. Thanks!

Hi Pat,

The voltage is no problem, but the Lightspeed Plasma III output is only capable of driving a very high impedance input (1M ohm), so it can't drive the 34K ohm analog inputs on the GEA 24 without a signal conditioner.

Too bad because I would like to connect my Plasma III to the G3X system as well.

See this thread. https://vansairforce.net/community/showpost.php?p=970106&postcount=6

Thanks, Steve!

Just what I needed, thanks. I've got said signal conditioner on order...

Hope to see you at SNF this year!

Lightspeed to EFIS Adapter

Flight Data Systems manufactures a device specifically for this purpose, the L2E. It amplifies the EI millivolt signal 10X to a standard 0-5V output to connect to any generic input on your EFIS engine monitor.

It has four channels for dual EI system timing as well a both Manifold Pressure and RPM.

The L2e also works with Electroair ignition.

http://www.fdatasystems.com/l2e-light-speed-to-efis-adapter

Features:

Connects your Light Speed or Electroair ignition module to your EFIS engine monitor
Display Timing Advance on your EFIS in flight
Record Electronic Ignition Parameters for diagnostics
Powered by the Light Speed module for easy wiring

Four Channels-

Timing Advance
RPM
Manifold Pressure
Timing Advance for second Ignition System
