FAA bill of sale

I purchased a unfinished kit airplane from an individual. He provided me with the Kit Bill of Sale when he originally purchased it from the Kit Manufacturer. I also have a Bill of Sale from the individual to me .
How do I go about getting the registration/n number ? Does the FAA want to see both Bill of Sales ?

Having the original and subsequent bill of sale should make things a lot easier.

Have the kit serial number changed to your name at the factory, as they will issue the final BOS that you will use for registration.

When you say you have a bill of sale is it the FAA form 8050-2? If not you will need one from Vans.
