9A slider canopy microswitch mount

I'm putting in annunciation for p-brake and canopy.
Does anyone know of a microswitch mount design for the canopy where it engages the latch mechanism.

I had done it for the tip-up in my RV7 which is the same design/concept for a RV9 if it is a tip up. I added two micro switch on each side of the canopy latching mechanism that locks the two sides. I don't know if I have a picture of it, I will look and if I found it, I will attach it. It is fairly easy to do. I do remember the ground wire went to both switches and joined into one wire to my LED light. This way if either switch was closed (I used NO switch) it would light up my LED.

Thanks for checking but the method I want to use is a bit different. I'm looking for a mechanism that would be placed at the top in the middle such that when the latch is rotated the forward side of the latch would push closed the microswitch. This assures that the canopy is not just in correct position, but further the latch is fully engaged. But you are correct, it would take a ground through the microswitch. I'm in the process of designing an annunciator that will do this, the G3X warning/cautions and the B&C regulator annunciations all with LEDs.

Thanks for the pointer. I had read that file. It will be helpful for the G3X setup and choice of the right microswitch. Their mechanism is at the deck and I'm looking to make the sensing at the latch mechanism. I did check with VANS as well and they have nothing but there is a video of someone who placed it with a brace on the centre bar at top so I will probably go with something like that. It's a simple u-bracket but I'll probably want to make the angle of engagement a bit cleaner.

Nice thing about the G3X setup is the additional notification over and above normal annunciation.

(I didn't realize you got a 195hp engine. Can't wait to see that thing climb).

I realize you are talking slider here. I did a microswitch on the latch for my tipup.

When the tipup canopy lug is present (down by the latch), and you engage the latch fully, it will close the switch. Maybe you can do something similar on the slider latch?

That's a pretty clean simple implementation and only works when the latch is engaged. I think that's closest to what makes sense. I might just clean up the alignment by printing something for the offset of the microswitch.

Somewhat similar thought since yours puts in on the latch.

Proximity switch

Maybe a proximity or sensor switch mounted on the windshield roll bar to detect a magnet or ferrous metal in place of the aluminum latch? I would stay away from mounting any kind of switch on the ?moving? canopy simply because of the inevitable wear of the wires.

I did exactly that on my RV-7 slider. Don't have any pictures handy, but I can take a couple next time out at the hangar.

ok. I like that idea but cannot be magnetic/ferrous as the compass is directly below (not to start any kind of debate but I believe these roll bars are degaussed).
It turns out there are aluminum proximity sensors

They don't detect ferrous metals. This is perfect since you just adjust the distance and there is no contact. I like this.

The trick is to shape the toe of the latch plate to just break the switch as the handle goes over center. You want the switch to indicate that the canopy is actually latched - not just that the hook on the latch plate is around the round striker.

Note the position of the switch arm below - this is just before the over center position.

The switch is a Cherry brand, don't recall the exact part number.
