Aluminium Angle Specification

I had to buy new long pieces of aluminium angle for the main longeron as the angle supplied in the very old kit was not long enough and I did not want to have a join.

The angel in the kit is 6061-T6 specification AMS-QQA-200/16 and the my supplier has sent me 6061 T6 QMS-QQA-200/8.

I have not has any success in googling the difference between the two specifications.

Anybody have any ideas if I can use the 200/8 version??

It appears that AMS-QQ-A-200/8 is equivalent to ASTM B221, and that AMS-QQ-A-200/16 is equivalent to ASTM B308.

I have a Mill cert for the material that indicates that conformation to AMS-QQA-200/8 and ASTM B308-02.

I rang the supplier today and found the answer!

AMS-QQA-200/16 is an old specification that is now superseded as of 2007 and was applied to structural extruded shapes. The specification AMS-QQA-200/8 included extruded shapes plus other type of aluminium processes.

AMS-QQA-200/8 is essentially the same.
