Garmin DA26C routing question ?

I have been persuaded here on VAF to mount a GA26C antenna under the cowling. The connector is relatively large for firewall pass thru. Does anyone have suggestions for how to get through the firewall without a big hole that will clear the OD of the connector for the G3x antenna connection ?

You can cut off the outer plastic which reveals a standard size BNC connector on the wire. This reduces the size of the hole you need down to about 1/2". Still bigger than just the wire, but it would take a special BNC connector to replace the connector with that small coax.

GA26 required ?

Stein said the 35 was required for 2020 adsb transponder and ga26c was for the G3x screen. Garmin install literature says 26c optional with 35 feeding the 20A module with can bus. Has anyone found out from experience if that statement really works ? If it does work ( one 35 antenna ), what is the downside other than no redundancy for gps ?

Stein is correct, you can 'get by' without the GA26 to the G3X but I would never install a system without a 26 for the PFD and one for the G5.
