ELT question position report

I was testing my belt today ( ack e04) and a question came to my mind.
If the elt is remotely activated in the air before a crash, will the gps position report will updated in the signal or it will be the position when and where the elt has been activated.

Lan - the answer to this question is not as simple as it might at first seem. The ELT is required to discard position data which is older than a few minutes - this helps avoid the situation where SAR is sent off to look for an ELT which no longer is where the last GPS data said it was.

If your GPS data was being provided to the ELT right up until the time of the ELT activation, the ELT will use that data in its transmissions.

If your GPS, for some reason, stopped sending valid data to the ELT a few minutes before the crash, the last GPS data will not be used. If new GPS data becomes available, it will be used in the ELT transmission.
