LOE 2011 in 6,200 miles...

We targeted LOE as a kick off for a round robin trip to visit my folks in Florida and to drop in on family. A great week of flying and fun with lots of stops and visits along the way. Got to take my mom flying and gave rides to an aunt and uncle who were the most energetic and enthustiastic couple i have met in a long time... hope that I have the spirit and vitality when I am their age :)

Summary route with the bulk of the deviations for weather included.

Out of Seattle after work on friday... over the cascades and on into Idaho with an overnight in Burly.

Nasty looking clouds dropping into the Idaho basin.

The next morning weather sitting in the high Rockies near Denver pushed us south over the Great Salt Lake and on into New Mexico where we could make the turn East.

Oxygen is a must in high country.

We picked our way through without issue avoiding the bulk of the rain along the way and dropping into town before the hole in the weather rolled on.... XM weather has its limitations but it is amazing...

On to Kentucky. In the morning several of the few planes on the ramp were lifting during a brief period of relative calm...

During our visit in Florida we made a lunch run to the Keys.

A quilt of colors.

The Everglades are incredibly remote and isolated; hardly land at all.

A great trip but we are ready to get home... we left Denver in the early afternoon and battled headwinds and turbulance most of the way.

Dang dude, nice trip! You're really racking up those miles!

All I need is some time off and a fuel sponser.
