23-06 Step 6 Pop Rivet Dimpler

In 23-06 Step 6 there are three #40 holes that need to be dimpled that cannot be reached with a standard yoke. I had this "pop rivet" dimpler which worked just fine:

i have a friend that built a sonex. that is the tool he got from sonex for the build. he had no complaints.
in the tool list though vans calls for a 3'' yoke for the rivit squeezer. did that not fit?

Hi Bob... You can put the yoke inside the panel opening and even then you cannot reach all the dimples. The instructions for these holes are to use the dies alone, a solid surface and a hammer.

Hi Bob,

You can also put the dies in a drill press, with the motor off, and use it as a lightweight arbor press. You can't press rivets with it, but you can sure dimple with this set-up.
