Alternator Belt Tension Arm - Cracking

HFS

Well Known Member
I never liked the "fragility" of the long, slotted belt tension arm of the alternators most of us use - so I came up with a solution that has worked for me for over 20 years now:

Simply, an overrunning 18 or 20 gauge channel, with an adjustment/retention slot at the upper end & a fixed hole size for the tension locking fastener at the lower end.

The one caveat with this design is that for conformation of the bracket's condition, you will need a mirror on a stick to look at the backside of the bracket.
