I found the same thing at about 450 hours - TJ
And N410RV, the orig. prototype, has 2000+ hours on the original standard part.
Hmmmmm.......
I've seen this in a friend's RV10. I reinforced mine from the get go because of that.
I'm theorizing that the hinges at the bottom allows for more movement and might be contributing to the problem. I know many builders, myself included, installed screws to attach the bottom of the cowl to the fuselage.
Any of the broken one's from bottom cowls attached with screws?
Johan
Mine's original at 1265 hours.
I have screws for the bottom cowl, not hinges.
Ditto on the screws for the lower attach of the cowl. Hinges there would allow much more vibration to effect the center bracket. They would also allow more movement over time (the hinges), because they would wear due to the vibration they endure.
