How was this air filter carb impression made?

I'd like to replace the air filter on my O320.
How do I make this impression of the carburetor in the air filter?

Looks like a combo of black and red RTV, commonly used to fill gaps in the cutout.

That chunk accidentally going through my induction system gives me nightmares, so I switched to the KN E-3322. It fits a little better and doesn't require the level of modification as pictured. Blackstone says my filtration has been great...and we have lots of sand on the airports in NE WI.

You cut out the appropriate chunk from the new filter. Cover the accelerator pump bump and surrounding areas with vaseline or some other release agent, then glop RTV onto both the filter and the accelerator pump, then mount the filter. While it is curing, maybe you add a little more RTV to the outside if you left it thin in spots, maybe you just shape it a little with a gloved finger.

Once it dries, you pull it apart and fill or trim the "inside" if necessary.

Let it cure, then reinstall and go fly.
