Baffling Baffle seals

Hello,

I bought my RV-6, O360, FP, some months back. I have been seeing high CHT's on 1 &3, like 430+ in climb at 100-110 knots. I have looked through all the threads i can find on baffle seals, RTV etc.
One thing I noticed compared to a couple other RV's around here is my seal material directly behind the prop does not reach the cowl, so I am sure I need to remove and install a seal that reaches the cowl.
My question is on which side of the baffle? In all the pictures I found this particular seal material goes on the engine side of the baffle, not on the prop side, which mine does. I have attached a couple pics.
Am I correct in thinking the correct place to put the seal material is on the engine side of the baffle? And it should reach the cowl so it can surl over and hold the air in?

Thanks.

I just finished the baffles on my-8 a couple of weeks ago,

They do go on the engine side and curve toward the firewall when compressed under the cowl, at least that's what my plans said. :)

Not saying this happened in your case, but it can happen if not careful.....the flexible seal can flop either forward or back and you have to be careful putting the upper cowl on so it flops the correct way.

Also, I found that the hardest place to get a good seal was in the area of the upper inside of the cowl inlets. Lots of geometrics going on there with the inlet ramps. You see several posts/threads on this issue. Some people have modified there ramps to close in the open area on the inside edge of the ramp to get a better ramp seal. You will see what I mean by poking your fingers inside the air inlet and toward the upper inside. Check for holes allowing air to pass.
