Wing Skin Patch

gblwy

Well Known Member
I need to make a repair to my RV12 Classic wing skin as someone/something has gouged a deep scratch when the wings were in a cradle. I want to rivet a patch over the damage in accordance with AC 43.13.

Can anyone advise the wing skin material used and particularly its thickness?

Thanks...Keith

patch?

Sure you don' t wanna just swap a wingskin? Just as much trouble, and from the beginning the right expectations for results....
(Don't ask how I know..)

Post a picture so you can get some good advice and options on how to repair and make the ugly disappear. Also the location.

Can anyone advise the wing skin material used...
From Section 5 of the instructions: The aluminum skins used on RV aircraft are all 2024-T3 alloy. They are "alclad", meaning that both sides of the sheet are coated at the mill with pure aluminum.
