Default FS: Hartzell BA Prop

I've got a Hartzell HC-C2YR-1BFP/F7497-2 prop and spinner for sale. 72" dia. Purchased Sept 2013. First flew Feb 2017. Replaced with an MT on my RV-8 in Aug 2021 with 233 hrs on it. Prop was inspected and repainted by Hope Aero in Toronto and is available for immediate purchase. No leaks. No damage. Maintained. Lived in a heated hanger. Looks like new.

Log book, Hartzell Propeller Owner's Manual and Hope Aero Authorized Release Certificate Form One included.

Asking $6500 US or $8000 Cdn, Shipping extra.

Hi Dennis,

How are you liking the MT, compared to previous?

I like the MT. It's around 3k slower in cruise. I haven't noticed any appreciable change in take off or climb performance. It slows me down quicker with a higher descent rate when I pull the power, so I'm adjusting my pattern to suit. When I shut down with ICO the prop stops instantly - dosen't have the inertia of the Hartzell. My Hartzell was pretty smooth. The MT seems about the same.

Just out of curiosity, why did you switch? Slower and no significant improvements in other areas seems unfortunate.

Why - long story but in a nutshell - My IO375 doesn't have a counterweighted crank and I run PMags. Hartzell originally told me to fly it with a RPM/MP restriction - not above 24" between 2350 & 2550 RPM. Since then they have gotten even more conservative and have gone as far to say only use a wood core prop on that engine due to possible harmonic vibration issues. So - it was either add counterweights and 6 lbs on the nose and a few months of down time shipping the engine back and forth to AeroSport or change to an MT - price either way was about the same and the MT took 5 lbs off the nose.

There are a bunch of threads on VAF that have discussed this issue.

I received a deposit for my Hartzell today and I'm now waiting for pickup by the buyer. So unless something unexpected happens this prop is sold. Sold notice PM's or emails have been sent to everyone who expressed interest in purchasing this prop. Thanks
