I'm currently helping two RV6 owners with HSTAB work. What I've found is that the hinge spacing isn't very consistent across planes. Built to plans... seems to be plus/minus 1/4"

So it is unlikely that you can *just* get a single elevator that will mate up correctly. And there is no good, safe and easy way to move the hinge - either on the elevator or the HSTAB.

The elevator is not an expensive kit from Van's... and then you can build it to fit *your* HSTAB.

Yep, I bought a abandoned kit, didn't care for the elevator or rudder build, bought the parts and made new ones. They go pretty fast.

Easier and better to find an RV7 tail kit and install it. That's what I had to do .
