Here's a picture of my RV-7A in formation flight about 2 weeks ago.
I first flew on 24 March of this year and now have about 85 hours on it.
(Lost 2 months of Flying in the summer while it was painted.) Flies great and I'm Lovin it!



So keep pounding those rivets because once you start flying you don't want to stop!!!!

That is one of the most beautiful planes I've seen.

but I just screwed up my company's computer screen using a sharpie to black out that white gizmo on that beautiful engine cowling.

Formation Flight?? I take it that is you in the left seat??? Here's a little tip that you should never forget.......NEVER....NEVER take your eyes off Lead.....PERIOD!!

Hey Rick, you might want to check out the pictures of Marc Bravo's panel on the "show us your panel" thread. He set it up for PIC from the right seat. In the picture of him flying, I see his eyes glued on the plane to his left.

Hey Guys,

Just got back from Paris today and saw the post about watching lead. In my plane the PIC seat is in the right side and I always had lead in sight (if not you breakout or go lost wingman if in WX.) Some background on me. I am a USAF military trained pilot, flew C-141's and then was a T-37B Instructor Pilot at Sheppard
AFB training guys from all over our NATO allies countries in the ENJJPT Pilot training program. (ENJJPT stands for Euro Nato Joint Jet Pilot Training, and is used by all of our Nato Allies). I have alot of hours in formation flying and just love it. That was one of the reasons for building the RV. (I really wanted an 8 bad but my wife will not sit there in the back looking at the back of my head).
So when your #2, your job is to just be there and tell Lead that he's on fire!!!
Anyhow, I was 2-ship and 4-ship Lead qualified and we actually flew 3 foot fingertip in the weather!! So if you ever want to go Fly formation just give me a call....It'll be fun.

Thanks for looking at my PICs--I'm really happy with the way the RV turned out, It's a great all around airplane.

Can't stop thinking about where to slice that big tail for the electric trim tab.

It looks perfect. I have the same itch to scratch with respect to rudder trim. I put on the wedge and it generally fixed the problem but I'm not completely satisfied (too often I look during different flight regimes and the ball is not centered the way it should be). I'm thinking something like the spring arangement Van offers for roll trim. It works very well for me. I just haven't figured out an clean configuration yet.

Anybody ever tried vgs on one side or the other of the vert stab to center the ball??
