Flywheel Ring Gear Interchange

Hi Folks,

I have a Lycoming IO-360-A1A that I purchased used without the Flywheel/Ringtooth gear assembly. A friend at the airport gave me a Lycoming Flywheel that has part number (I assume) 72286 stamped into it. He stated that he has no idea what condition it is in so.....

1) Holes look round with very little or no visible wear. Is there anything else I need to check or anywhere I can/should send it to be checked out?

2) Is it okay to use this particular flywheel with this engine? It holds a 149 ring tooth gear and my Sky-Tec starter is for a 149 tooth gear. The flywheel has the de-ice ports in it but I will not be using them.

3) The current ringtooth gear that is on it came from Superior (I think) and is too wide by about 1/32 inch. Where can I find a replacement gear to match this flywheel?

Thanks for your anticipated help here!
