RV 7 HS Question / Service Bulletin

Question as it relates to RV 7 and 8's. In the older kits there was always an issue for new builders (in terms of minimun edge distance) when drilling the the 601PP skin to the end of the forward flange of rib 4ib 405/404 (where it mates to HS-702 spar). Vans had always said to builders "build on" and that MED was not citical on that rivet hole (on the basis that it ws not structiral).

On the new kits, the flange of HS-702 is now trimmed so Rib HS404/405 is riveted directly to he skin.

For those undertaking the service bulletins on older 7's or 8's, is anyone trimming the HS-702 flange and replaing the H-405/404 rib OR are they simply ordering the new ribs and putting it back together as it was originally built (just with the doubler)?
