your storage loft
Steve,
The loft looks great but I have a couple of question (just out of curiosity):
Did you size the LVL beams based on a specific loading?
Are the LVLs sitting on top of the posts in all 5 locations?
Are the posts bearing on top of the floor slab only?
Did you consider deflection of the front beam (20 ft span)?
I don't think you'll have a stress problem but you might get some deflection.
Regarding the CF panel - How does the load get from the hoist into the panel and once it gets there, what does the CF panel do?
I don't know much about aviation (yet) but it seems like there is a lot of precise calculation involved in it. Just wondering what level of precision was used.
I also think I know a lot about framing design and since I can't post much about the former, I try to weigh in on the latter when I can. (And I'm from Cincy!)
All good. Just trying to socialize.

yes, I calculated the stress and deflection numbers. there is essentially no deflection when I jump up and down in the loft.
******
current fwd beam deflection. a waxed string pulled as tightly as possible along the underside of the beam. if the string sag is .015 or so, the total deflection is .086 + .015 = 0.101 inch. the analysis predicted .155 inch deflection (also hand calc). so perhaps the beam properties are better than the minimum they advertise or my weight calculations are conservative (probably). anyway, it is in the direction of goodness. or perhaps my carbon fiber patch is making a huge difference.... not.

Don't sell yourself short... You rolled a pretty nice piece of bling out of the way to take the photo...

cowl inlet air dams
I've been flying with these all Winter and they get my engine and oil temps up to where they should be. the CHt's are even. I am happy with these. this is the same 1 inch wide dams I used at the end of last Winter. they are getting some hours on them.

they will do that (and they are in sync) and it's very cool but it could cause some to have heart attacks so hold on that.

hammock chair
this is dangerous because after I installed it I sat down. after 10 minutes I was out and when I woke up it was dark outside. I'm going to get another one!

Hangar 5 in Columbus Indiana is open and I was very happy to stop by and get my 2000 calorie brunch, green chilis. hey, I've been running so I can do that. my first half marathon will be this year. full marathon's are behind me.

OK, blue may becoming my favorite color. the lines and textures in this photo appeal to me.

Long GPS Dock
well over 8 inches in length. my longest GPS Dock printed to date. hey, when you can make the custom dock fit the existing panel cutout, why not?
