Oil Cooler flush

My engine is being overhauled. What do I need to do with my oil cooler?
It's a NDM 20002A
Can I just flush it? With what?
Does it need to be sent somewhere for flush/overhaul?

first question is why is it being overhauled? if it was making metal then it must be sent out and flushed. if it was not making metal,Your call, but I wouldn't fire up a 25k overhaul with a used cooler that hasn't been flushed. truthfully, i normally just buy a new one at overhaul.

Was your engine making metal??

Or just normal sludge removal.

For metal flakes, I would look at having it professionally cleaned.
