Fuel consumption

What does everyone see fuel burn wise in their RV10's? I am watching some 14 videos and love the numbers people mention, like cruise at 8 GPH!

Thank you.

I would say 8gph is the exception rather than the rule. 10-12GPH LOP seems to the average range. I usually run in the high 11’s myself.

I am at 12.5 GPH with only 25 hours on the engine as it still runs a little hot, I expect that to drop to 11.5 before or at 100 hours.

It all depends on the operator. If you choose 75% best power mixture at 8000’, you should see 173 or so KTAS on 13-14 gal/hr. If you have adjusted your fuel injectors to ‘match cylinders’ you can run lean of peak. I usually cruise at 160 KTAS at 10,000’, burning a bit less than 10 gal/hr. On some trips ‘slower is faster’ as I can skip a fuel stop. But others want to fly as fast as they can. The choice is yours.

Below 10k’, 10.5-12.5 depending on power setting. At 17,500 8.7-9.5 @155 knots without fuel injection (O-540)

Fuel Consumption

With Mags:
8,000ft - 2,300rpm 165 KTAS @ 10.5gph
10,000ft - 2,300rpm 165KTAS @ 10.0gph
12,000ft - 2,300rpm 165KTAS @ 9.5gph

With twin Surefly EIS on variable advance:
About the same as Mags for the equivalent fuel flow. However, with a little more fuel, a consistent 170KTAS seems to be the sweet spot.
8,000ft - 2,300rpm 170 KTAS @ 11.2gph

Side by side Rocket 10:1 pistons IO540 with one Surefly

I typically see 8.5 gph + or - at 2100 rpms and 20 inches of mp and LOP. This typically nets me 190 mph plus.
