Heads up on Garmin SL Radios

This afternoon I called the technical support line at Garmin with a question regarding my SL-60 (GPS NAV/COM radio). I was told that after June 30th of this year, Garmin will no longer service these radios. According to the tech, there will no longer be any means by which to get these units serviced...

I would be interested to know whether others were aware of this and if there are "off the grid" means of keeping this radios in service.

Thanks,

Is it just the 60 or the whole SL line .

I called Garmin yesterday to make arrangements to send my SL-60 in for service. According to the Tech, service on the SL-50, -60, and -70 will stop on June 30th.

Service for the -30 and -40 will continue.

Service for the -30 and -40 will continue.

This is a good thing--------I have one of each that I will be putting up for sale sometime soon, and I doubt they would hold their value if they were forced into "Orphan" status.

I'd look for a spare one on eBay or elsewhere, that's what some have done with the GX (also made by Apollo, UPS AT) units as well.
