Very nice paint scheme you have here Georges!
Would I ever want to have mine resprayed, I’d sure use Aerostyll, probably the best aircraft painters on the old continent. Fantastic quality at fair price :)

140600

Flying since 9-22.

IO360L2A Parallel valve w/ 10:1 compression
Sensinich fixed pitch climb prop
Rotec TBI
(2) Dynon10" Skyview w/AP
Flightline Interior

1200 FPM climb @ 90kts
150 TAS @ 2650Rpm

CG is aft of middle of range so only about 50-60lbs of baggage.
Soon upgrading to SDS EFI and Hartzell CS prop so will probably get another 15lbs+ of baggage.

Total cost about 105k

Airplane flies very well.

Again, congrats Alex & Fabian!
Fantastic ship, and I can attest it probably being the fastest RV around as well… Pity the stars are only visible from below, or when you guys fly upside down :D

Finally got her painted

Huge thanks to Evoke Aircraft Design and Cascade Custom Design for their work.

RV-14A First Flight N421S

Ordered the first kit December 2019. Some 1770 hours of construction later, had the airworthiness inspection with the DAR April 13, 2022.

First Flight April 15, 2022. Only minor squawks such as the autopilot was very sensitive and has since been tuned. Great Flying bird!

Thought I would share this with those that begin to think the process will never be complete.

Prop

Nice work and congrats! What propeller is that?

The prop is a Sensenich 3 blade ground adjustable carbon fiber prop. https://www.sensenich.com/shop/airc...o-360-ground-adjustable-high-speed-propeller/
The engine is an IO-360-C1E6 with Superior cold air sump, Fly EFII electronic ignition and electronic fuel injection. Added the EXP 119 kit which makes the intake line right up with the EFII system. Had Clint at Vetterman make the exhaust. To compensate for the reduced weight of the prop I moved the engine forward 0.5 inch.
I wanted the simplicity of one lever which I incorporated in the center console. I'll post a picture of that when I go take one. Put 19 hours on the airplane in the last 8 days, its a blast.

I'm sure the 360/fixed pitch combo saved you a fortune compared to new 390 and constant speed. It's hard to find an IO-360 with the forward governor location, but if you aren't using the governor then it doesn't matter...

My bird is finally complete - just out of Evoke Aviation's paint shop in Gadsden, AL. Jonathan and his team did a bang-up job - I couldn't be more pleased with this essentially perfect paint job! (Photo credit: Jonathan McCormick)

I got my tail kit at the end of October 2013 and spent many enjoyable years building. Evoke Paint Design came up with the scheme and Kracon @KLHM just finished the paint. Time to go fly!!!!

Gorgeous! Congratulations!!

Hey, Smash (Ernie). Nice paint on the plane! I like that red a lot. I hope to get my plane to a paint shop towards the middle of this year. Will you share the paint manufacturer/code/color? I think it's exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Red paint

The red is Mazda 46V Soul Red and is available from multiple vendors. You can see it on newer Mazda cars on the road. You'll know it when you see it. It's tricky to photograph because it changes with lighting. It's also tricky to apply. Before you put any on your airplane, you should have your painter spray some test panels starting with the same base coat as your airplane and make sure you are getting the color you want.

Wow ... just Wow :D

Out of the paint shop

Decided to keep it simple, but elegant (IMHO) :D. I like how the hue changes in different light environments.
Lancaster Aero in Smoketown, PA did an excellent job.

Finished, again, and again.

When my 14 got licensed and started flight testing, I thought, finished. After fly-off and paint, again, I thought finished. Now with 70+ hours and lots of adjustments, final placarding, again finished. Most significant change was adding louvers to lower cowling - dramatic cooling improvement with no loss of airspeed. Getting ready to install pneumatic tailwheel. Never completely finished I guess.

Wow, she’s beautiful!! I really like your polished spinner. Is it a Hartzell or Cummings? If it’s a Hartzell, can I ask what part number it is?

Building a -14A and interested in the louvers you installed.Wondering if their is room on a A model considering the nose gear. Can you post your temps before and after mod? Part number for louvers?
Thanks
Jim

It is Cummings. I had Wheelcraft coat it with a chrome like finish (same as on my Corvette wheels) to get the bright finish. They offer a dark chrome finish which is interesting. Very easy to clean. No polishing required.

Roger that….thanks for the reply!

RV-14 cowling louvers

The louver set is from GAMI/TATI. It is what they use on their Cirrus turbo-normalized engine. Don't have PN, but you can just describe it and reference my airplane if you talk to them. There are other generic louvers offered out there. Here is some very quick before and after flight data at similar altitude and power settings.

Jonathan, can you confirm if it’s one of these? (See link below). You stated that the one you’re using is for turbo-normalize, but both of the ones in the link are for non-turbo. I couldn’t find a part listed for the turbo-normalized. Also, were you able to purchase just one, or did you have to get two?

First and foremost, your plane looks absolutely fantastic! Well executed and congratulations.

I am intrigued by the louvers as I covet your temperatures. Are the temperatures without the louvers with the cowl (cooling) flap open or closed?

Add-on questions.
I also like the cup holder forward of the fuel selector. That requires a vertical circuit breaker panel setup. Do you find and issues with that setup vs a angled power panel? Mostly I'm thinking circuit breaker accessibility. In plain English, can you reach the breakers?

White lightning power. I've been looking at them. I suspect that you have a connection point. Would you be willing to share a picture and how you set it up.

Thank you in advance!

That looks like the correct part. I only purchased one, not two. Probably need to ask about that. Also, none of the other hardware. I am probably mistaken about it being for the TN Cirrus. I have done several projects with GAMI and when discussing the high temps, they recommended trying this louver set. Obviously worked well.
