FLYBOY HEATED SEATS - CABLE LOCATION

Drum

Active Member
Hi - I bought the Flyboy heat pads for my seats. I'm installing cabling on port side of my -8 for both pilot and passenger. Was wondering if anyone here had experience with these and where cabling was secured; specifically, the relays, control buttons and associated cables and connectors. For passenger, I was planning underneath left arm rest and forward of electric flap actuator. Thanks in advance.

Warm regards,

I placed my relays below the floorboards. The picture shows the rear relay installation. Forward seat relay is mounted in a similar fashion under the floorboards. Your access is going to depend on wether the floor was riveted or if nut plates were installed for easy removal. I chose the starboard side of the aircraft simply because there is less interference with anything else. You don’t have to worry about flap motor or wiring in the way and if you have a rear cockpit throttle lever that would also be in the way. For the rear seat I built a side panel that has the heater switch, comm plug and iPad power plug. The seat heater plugs come up from below next to the stick boot. For the forward seat I installed the heater switch on the lower forward right panel. Again, the left side has less room because of the fuel selector and plumbing below it.

Heated seats

In my -6, I placed the relays under the seat panels, and the switches at the lower outside corners of the instrument panel. The leads from the the seat panels feed through a hole in the seat base.
