Exhaust slip joint leaks and correct fastening?

I have discovered that the first slip joint on the exhaust coming from cylinder #2 is leaking and blowing exhaust on the CHT probe, cylinder, etc. I can freely push the bottom tube up all the way and have it bottom out on the bolt bracket before feeling any tube on tube resistance. Not having any experience with this joint I wanted to understand how tight should the friction joint be? I assume I can tighten it up with a pipe expander but before I do that I need to understand how tight to make it. This is on an RV4 with AIO360.

Thx!

The slip joints on mine were wore out as well. I sent everything to Clint and had him replace them with ball joints. Price was super reasonable and the pipes are far more adjustable.
