SHOW PLANES OIL COOLER

flybywire

Member
I have now been operating now for one full year with a 13 row engine mount Show Planes oil cooler mod. Operating in Southern California‘s hot temperatures, I have never seen my oil temperature go above 185° on my IO-360 . . . I kid you not. WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE. . . my eng thanks me on every flight!

Thanks for the pirep. I'm trying to decide between this setup and the RV10 firewall mount for my fire breathing IO390 RV7.

Anything you would do differently if you had it to do over?

Contact Bryan at Show Planes and follow his recommendations. My first RV-6 we put in a 390 .... it ran very hot and had to put in 2 oil coolers but offered little help. My RV-7 runs cool with the Show Planes 13 row.

. . . Also Terry, if your sold on using the 390, consider beefing up your tail skin to a thicker mil because we started getting cracks in the skin running the 390 on my RV-6.
