I have the MGL EGT monitor with clamp-type K probes. Yesterday, in flight, the EGT on cylinder #1 went to zero. CHT remained normal and no other anomalies were noted (engine ran smooth). I did a quick RTB and pulled the cowl.
I'm going to test the probe today but one thing didn't seem right about the install.
When I grabbed the installed probes on both 1 and 3 cylinders, they both slid in and out for a short distance. They were not solidly held in place.
They wouldn't' pull out, but you could definitely slide them back and forth a bit.
On the other two cylinders the probes didn't move.
Engine is a lycoming O-235.
The probes are the MGL ones from Aircraft Spruce.
The moving of the probes can't be right? What's wrong with the install?
TIA,
Gary
