O-320 Fuel consumption at idle

Hi guys,

Just wondering what the average fuel
Consumption is for an O-320 at 1000rpm,
leaned and/or rich.

Cheers

Not exactly the answer you wanted but, my IO360/180HP on my RV7 was giving me a low fuel flow warning yesterday taxing to the runway. It was running fine at 1.5 GPH.

Thanks, that gives me an idea of how much it consumes at idle.

My reason for asking is I burned 12.4 Gallons during a 1.4 hour flight
but I also idled for .6 on the ground, a total of 2 hours with the engine running.

I’m not getting as good fuel economy in -25 degrees Celsius weather.
I have a CAT gauge so I might use my carb heat to bring up the temp in my
Carb to around -3 degrees Celsius.

Unfortunately, very few gauges are accurate at that low of a reading.

Not an io320, but the cessna POH for a io360 says to allow 1.4 gallons for taxi and runup. I can’t imagine a 320 burning more than a gallon or so during pre and take off activities unless you have some kind of really long taxi or hold time
