AircraftWraps and Titan Aircraft Engines:

Taking Performance Aircraft to a new level!

AircraftWraps, along with Titan Aircraft Engines have teamed up to create a new level for performance aircraft. To reduce the overall aircraft weight Titan has chosen our vinyl product instead of paint. This scheme painted would have generated 35-40 pounds in paint. AircraftWraps total installed weight added only 12 pounds! Furthermore, our vinyl spans gaps and seals the surface creating a more efficient aerodynamic flow.

Titan needed this aircraft done before June 1st! This plane left ahead of schedule today and is enroute to Reno Nevada for "Pylon Race School". Painting of the plane was quoted at 2-3 months... We did this in 2 Weeks!

AircraftWraps 2 RV8s escorted the Titan Aircraft north of Orlando on her way West.

By combining the increased aerodynamics, the light weight vinyl of AircraftWraps process and the superb Titan Engine should prove to be a winning combination.

Now that is really cool. The design is very complex. Cant wait to see it in person. Kevin is very demanding, and has attention to detail.

Very nice job. Will like to see it live in person

Questions:
How much of the design is printed and how much is spliced different solid colors?

Are rivet heads visible after wrapping? I imagine it shrinks down pretty tight and would just look like rivets do after paint.

Can you color match? I have a pretty fancy rudder that I would like to rebuild but do not look forward to the repainting. Could you just wrap the rudder and it would match the rest of the tail?

Philip,

They wrapped my rudder, and it matches perfectly. I provided the paint colors to them ahead of time. And, it allowed me to do a complex, multi-colored checkerboard that would have been almost impossible by paint. See: http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=113131

By the way, I saw the Titan plane in the AircraftWraps hangar before the wrap-- WOW! What a transformation!

Thanks Arlen.

Phillip,

We are secretly building a Wrap mafia. We do this by providing whatever our clients want... to any level, we do what we say we will, exceeding our clients expectations, charging a fair price. Then after you pay and leave... we harass you until you come fly formation with us on a pancake attack mission.

To Quote Titan's Kevin Eldredge, "Once you go with a wrap, you wont go back"

That. Looks. Freaking. Awesome!

I've been in the wrap game since 1998 and have been waiting for someone to do a great design for an aircraft in print vinyl. People will start to open up on designs and you guys will take off.

A/C Wraps,

Just had an idea, can you apply vinyl wrap to plexi?

Could give a Side-By-Side a new look and shade at the same time.

Yes,

We are currently experimenting with perforated printed vinyl to offer as a color matched/ scheme integrated sunshade. Everyone has seen it on vehicles when the wrapped logo continues onto the windows. We can currently offer a solid color vinyl sunshade, but I believe after testing we'll be able to have unobstructed visibility while enjoying cooler temps under the perforated vinyl shade:D

Sun shade

I would certainly be interested to see what the sun shade would be like...please post photos and results.

I was not happy with the glare off the wings of my -8 and AW took care of the problem by doing a partial wrap of just the polished surfaces. I can't get over how great it looks! Even my most critical friends were impressed!
Scott is a gentleman and a great guy to deal with!

Thanks Scott and all at AW!

Joe,

Its an honor to be your very first post in 4 years!!! :)

You started with an amazingly beautiful RV8! The dedication of your polishing was monumental! To have the time to polish and still find time for flying your high performance bird must've been difficult!? Hopefully now, you can enjoy your low maintenance wrapped RV/Warbird!

Regards,

Scott Farnsworth

***With Joe's permission he's allowed AircraftWraps to share photos of his aircraft.

During those polished aluminum flights Joe had issues that we hear about constantly from from the polished flyers.

SUN GLARING OFF THE WINGS AND ROASTING PILOTS AND PASSENGERS!

Solution: AW founder Scott Farnsworth arrives at an airshow with every possible match for an actual Performing P-51 Mustang. This mustang has polished fuselage and painted wings, which is standard. With permission from the P51 pilot, AW gets their perfect match for P51 warbird Wraps.

Any chance the Titan plane will be at Oshkosh this summer? I'd really like to see that wrap job in person!

Scott, are there several layers on the fuselage of Titan's airplane or are the colors printed on a single sheet? Seems that the edges of layers could cause some drag, no?

Best,

I have a question for you. Can you wrap an RV-12, which is covered in pop rivets instead of flush rivets?

Best,

Pierre,

Good to hear from you! We have the wings coming up?

Titan asked for Weight to be a priority. We can do our installs in various ways, but this install was all printed after template and digitally graphing the aircraft.

Titan pushed AircraftWraps into another level of our aviation specific vinyl product. We truly enjoyed being able to exceed their expectations.

I'd relate their requested parameters to a "race or performance" package within our product's already superior advantages.

AircraftWraps did a great job!

We designed the scheme for Titan and we just send to AircraftWraps the vector files. This is the result. Amazing collaboration!

Cheers from Italy!

Mirco,

Welcome to the Van's community!

AircraftWraps and aircraftstudiodesign will be working closely together going forward. Its AircraftWraps belief that our future collaborations will bring this amazing communities' designs and performance to another level!

AircraftWraps will continue the traditional RV schemes. When you come to AW for that "ONE-OFF", airshow, show-stopper design... we will be collaborating with aircraftstudiodesign.

Again... welcome Micro and aircraftstudiodesign!

"Distant-Places" Wrap

Copied from another thread:

Seattle and Phoenix are our current areas of focus as we build out our network.

AircraftWraps is already in place! We started this process months ago. Our network of "Aviation" qualified installers will come to your hangar.

We provide 2 options for the "Distant-Places" Wrap:

1. We can fly a "Director" to your location and supervise your install during the entire process to include disassembly and reassembly. Price varies based on travel and hotel cost... MUCH cheaper then owners flying their RV here and roundtrip airfare to Florida!

2. Pilot/Owner Assisted Wrap:We come to you. The pilot/owner signs a NDA regarding our process and becomes a "AircraftWraps Director" for his own aircraft. Pilot/Owner will handle disassembly and reassembly. Our qualified installers will receive ALL direction from AircraftWraps regarding install and required process to AircraftWraps Aviation Installation Standards. The owner will not be charged for any travel or Hotel expense. His involvement and assistance with aircraft hardware specifics will be compensated through a reduced AircraftWraps price.

Again... WE COME TO YOU!

Think about having your plane never leave your hangar and being completed within the week. Zero 100LL cost to the AW client! The saving for our customers will be staggering!

AircraftWraps is the only company offering this service. With environmental concerns over painting products, it's just not an option for that system of aircraft color scheme.

Option 2 was created after MANY of our pilot/builders/owners requested to be involved in the process. We developed this "Distant-Places" wrap program in an effort to involve our clients in their wrap (as requested). We believe this program allows our clients to be involved while protecting the hard earned flight testing data and our install process procedures.

Snowflake,

When would you like us at your Hangar Door!? Your location is prime installation summer weather climate!

Our Phoenix installation... see you in a few months

Air-conditioned/climate-controlled Hangar (Don of Texas), we'll even bring coffee and donuts!

Hows about Australia?

I have dropped you an email on the possibilities of you guys coordinating with an Australian based wrapping company to help us down under. Your experience associated with the knowledge of someone in the industry could mean expanding the name globally.

What do you see as the options available for being able to provide some sort of service for the first wrap in Oz?

I am happy to be an ambassador down here, just need to get it done correctly.... Seems there are too many issues to getting it wrong to chance it.

Thoughts?

Can you wrap a certificated airplane (Cessna 172, Mooney 201)?

Please send us an email at [email protected]

We'll try to keep within this forums rules pertaining to Vans RV related.

Certification: AircraftWraps recently acquired and now holds certification by both the FAA and 3M to provide Wraps to the Certified Market.

For experimental (RV... there its now related:rolleyes:) we can use the material we have tested and determine best suited for the related Wrap.

3M material is currently the only manufacture of Certified Aviation Vinyl.

Without that certification: 3M will not sell the specialty vinyl to operations trying to wrap Certified aircraft. If you wrap your Mooney in non-certified material... your plane is not airworthy by FAA standards.

We love our experimental... they are our backbone! However, growth into this area based on a passionate interest from the Cert drivers drove the substantial investment. Our experimental market sees benefits from AircraftWraps involvement in both markets.

Andrew,

I saw your email this weekend. I haven't forgot about you. I am simply, "thinking before I speak."

I do this because once I say I will do something... I do it regardless. If I have to personally be in the hangar at 1am, take my own money from pocket, etc. I will always stand by what I tell someone.

I have plans... after consulting with my team we will make sure to reach out to you shortly.

Regards,

Scott Farnsworth

Now that is a businessman! You get my business. Actually, I'm working on my scheme and hope to someday see your team wrap it. It's a whole new design now that there's no limit but the imagination.

Australia

I too have dropped you an email expressing a desire to see an AircraftWrap facility in Oz.
