Need input on hangar color

I keep my RV10 at a condo style hanger at a private resort airstrip in the cascades of Oregon. The resort is asking the hanger owners to repaint the hangers from a light yellow to a "dark brown/black color.

That seems like an odd color for a hanger and would like to know if anyone has experience with dark colored hangers.

Do they become an oven in the summer?
Do they fade quickly and need repainting?
Any other advice?

Thanks,

Don't know about Oregon, but in the south, it would be rough. FWIW, one of my neighbors (in MS) recently 'sealed' the unpainted Galvalume roof of his hanger with a bright white elastomeric coating. He says that the hangar is 15-20 degrees cooler after painting the roof white.

While "color" is an obvious and visible component to heat reflection vs absorption, "solar reflectivity" is the metric you want to use. There are dark color paints with a relatively high solar reflectivity. However, as the paint ages it's solar reflectivity will drop so you are still better starting with a lighter color.

A good place to start is a search of "solar reflectivity" and "LEED certification".

My hangar has the "ivory" roof and "desert" siding.

Seems like the color of choice for northwestern airports. Like wood siding and stonework. Ambience.
