Lycoming O-390 Optimum Oil Level

Can anyone provide info on the optimum oil level for my RV-14A with a Lycoming O-390? I am thinking 6 to 7.5 quarts. any comments welcome.

I have found that anything over 6 blows out quickly. At 5 or 5 1/2 it is very stable. 3yrs and 220 hrs on my IO-390

On my IO390, I kept the oil at 7 and added when it was down to 6. I did not see much oil at the belly with this level.

I have found that most people recommend no higher than 6 quarts. I run between 4.5 & 6. I know van's runs between 4 & 6.

300 hours since install, I load 7 quarts after an oil change (or before a long cross-country) and then add one quart when down to 5. I see no difference in consumption at any level.
