Take off performance

Pat Stewart

Well Known Member
This morning I took off for a short flight with both tanks at about 15 gallons each or about a 1/2 fuel load. Wow, unbelievable take off performance. I have built two RV8's, one was 200HP and the other 180HP. Neither one of those planes had take off performance like my RV10.

You should try it with even less on a cool crisp winters morning and a high QNH its like you have fitted a NOS.

Even more surprising is a 2900lb take off on a similar crisp morning. Still amazing.

Take Off Performance

The take off performance was quite surprising since I had been used to a sickly 172. What I found out you can't take off as soon as the plane in front rotates because you will be introducing your plane to theirs in a not so cool way. As they say "almost been there, done that."

Ohhh yes......... you need to keep the nose down so you can keep an eye on the one in front....and then you just go faster :D:D:)
