left elevator TE trim for tip fairing...

So page 9-8 figure 3 shows trimming the E-01423 TE down to match the width of the E912 elevator tip fairing.

I have to say that my TE looks a little rough. It's proven very hard to do what they show. Worse is that I'm not sure how to match it up to the fairing perfectly. I've cleco'd it in and compared and it seems they are pretty close; but is it better if the TE is a little under or a little over sized - since I can't tell what perfect should be?.

Anyone care to measure the finished width of a good fit?

It Depends. Are you looking to enter for a Lindy?

If not then close enough is good enough. This is strictly a cosmetic issue.

Theoretically if you are a bit less wide than the fiberglass tip you could easily sand the fiberglass down a bit.

Conversely you could always add a bit of body filler on the aluminum to make the transition "smooth"
